Youth Worker (BHPP) "Wrangler"

Arivaca Boys Ranch is an inpatient behavioral health facility for teenage boys (aged 13-18). The boys have various individual struggles including anger management, histories of trauma, substance abuse, attachment and mood disorders, and mental health diagnoses.

The primary responsibility of this position is to be a positive mentor and role model to our residents and to facilitate a safe and caring environment. If accepted you will be living and working with 5-10 teenage boys in a bunkhouse and guiding them through their day at the ranch (staff has separate sleeping arrangements).

The schedule is divided into two "rotations" consisting of seven days in the field, followed by seven days off. An ideal job for Arizona residents, many of our employees commute from all over the state. Wranglers receive free room and meals on-site for the duration of their 7-day shift.

You will receive training in:

  • Arbinger philosophies and practice as taught by leading experts
  • Non-violent crisis intervention
  • Behavioral and Mental Health Disorder management
  • Clinical documentation

Applicants must be at least 21 years-of-age or older and have a high school graduation certificate or GED. Applicants must be able to pass a drug screen and fingerprint clearance check. Experience working with horses is not required.

Pay starts at $165 per/day and increases as training milestones are hit. We are currently offering a $350 signing bonus to people who can start immediately.

Equine Support Staff

Arivaca Boys Ranch is seeking an experienced equine support staff member to assist in our equine therapy and horse training program.

Arivaca Boys Ranch is an inpatient behavioral health residential facility for teenage boys (aged 13-17). The boys have various individual struggles including anger management, histories of trauma, substance abuse, attachment and mood disorders, and mental health diagnoses. We use equine therapy coupled with Arbinger philosophies of relationship building, as well as traditional individual, group and family therapy.

Our program is committed to providing Trauma-Informed Care principles throughout every aspect of treatment.

Candidates should have a pro-active mindset and desire to facilitate success in our program. They should have a good knowledge of "Natural Horsemanship" and a disposition to work with energetic adolescent boys.

Each boy in our program is assigned is own horse to train. Our goal is to help them make a connection between their horse and human relationships, to develop confidence, self-esteem, and to form a secure partnership with their horse.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • The right candidate will be enthusiastic about learning our current structure and will bring their own strengths and knowledge to this approach.
  • Work one-on-one with our boys, help them learn basic techniques of horse training and facilitate their therapeutic journey.
  • Manage and care for equipment.
  • Provides patient care and guidance as needed in a supportive and empathetic manner.
  • Help care for our horses, occasionally assist with barn management.
  • Be open to learning and implementing Arbinger principles as part of the horse training experience (Although helpful, no prior knowledge of Arbinger is necessary, the candidate will receive Arbinger training and resources upon employment).

Requirements & Experience:

  • At least 3 years of experience in a ranch environment utilizing natural horsemanship principles.
  • Experience teaching horse riding, or in equine therapy will be highly regarded.
  • Experience working with youth will also be highly regarded.
  • A desire to work with youth is essential.
  • Must be over 21 years of age.
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check and obtain a level 1 clearance card.

Equine Therapist

Masters-Level Qualification

Arivaca Boys Ranch is seeking an equine therapist to oversee our equine therapy and horse training program at our inpatient behavioral health facility.

We use equine therapy coupled with Arbinger philosophies of relationship building, as well as traditional individual, group and family therapy.

  • Manage and care for equipment.
  • Help manage support staff.
  • Promotes implementation of therapeutic milieu and daily program schedule.
  • Provides patient care and guidance as needed in a supportive and empathetic manner.
  • Serve as a member of our clinical team, work with our other therapists to ensure boys' therapeutic needs are met.
  • Be open to learning and implementing Arbinger principles as part of the horse training experience (Although helpful, no prior knowledge of Arbinger is necessary, the candidate will receive Arbinger training and resources upon employment).

Requirements & Experience:

  • Master's Degree in social work, psychology or related field is preferred
  • Must be over 21 years of age
  • Must be able to obtain a level 1 clearance card
  • 3+ years of equine experience preferred
  • Experience with youth preferred

Salary: $35k-$45k a year, negotiable depending on experience and other benefits.

Kitchen Staff Member

Arivaca Boys Ranch is seeking a reliable kitchen staff member to join our team.

We are a licensed inpatient behavioral health facility. Our residents are young teenage boys, aged 13-18. Each day kitchen staff make and serve meals on-site to our clients and field staff (Breakfast served at 8am, Lunch served at 12 noon, & Dinner served at 5pm), hours from30-40 hours per week.

The right candidate will be available to work holidays and weekends when necessary. They will have a strong work ethic and ability to work as part of a team.

This is an entry level position and all training will be done on ranch. Ideally the right candidate will enjoy cooking and have some experience in kitchens or working with food, and will already have an Arizona food handlers card.

Anyone with professional cooking experience is also invited to apply and that experience will be highly regarded.

The candidate must be over 21 and must be able to pass a criminal background check and drug screen. Pay starts at $12.15 per/hour.

School Administrator

  • Assist in Supervision of Clients, serve as a mentor and positive role model for students.

Requirements & Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in any field.
  • Must be able to obtain a level 1 clearance card.
  • The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of experience in working with youth with diverse backgrounds.
  • The ideal candidate will also possess the ability to relate to youth who struggle with mental and behavioral health challenges and will be confident in being able to hold firm boundaries.

Mental Health Therapist

Masters Level

Arivaca Boys Ranch is seeking a masters-level Therapist, to join our team.

Arivaca Boys Ranch is an inpatient behavioral health residential facility for teenage boys (13-17). The boys have various individual struggles including anger management, histories of trauma, substance abuse, attachment and mood disorders, and mental health diagnoses. We use equine therapy coupled with Arbinger philosophies of relationship building, as well as traditional individual, group and family therapy.

Our program is committed to providing Trauma-Informed Care principles throughout every aspect of treatment. Candidates should have a pro-active mindset and desire to facilitate success in our program. They must be enthusiastic in helping us carry out our mission to help young men discover their greatness and potential, develop the tools to cope with life challenges, to learn to set and achieve goals, and to build productive relationships with family and peers.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Provide mental health assessments, counseling, referrals, and intervention services.
  • Complete and maintain appropriate documentation according to state and federal guidelines.
  • Facilitate individual, group, and family therapy.
  • Manage a caseload of 8-12 clients.
  • Conduct intakes as assigned and perform initial psycho-social assessment upon admission.
  • Learn and incorporate Arbinger frameworks in a therapeutic setting (Although helpful, no prior knowledge of Arbinger is necessary, the candidate will receive Arbinger training and resources upon employment).

Requirements & Experience:

  • Master's Degree in Social Work, Psychology or Related Field.
  • Must be able to obtain a level 1 clearance card.
  • The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of experience in working with youth with diverse backgrounds.
  • Equine therapy experience or some knowledge of horses is not essential, though it would prove to be an asset for the right candidate.

Nightshift/Youth Mentor

Arivaca Boys Ranch is an inpatient behavioral health facility for teenage boys (13-18).

The boys have various individual struggles including anger management, histories of trauma, substance abuse, attachment and mood disorders, and mental health diagnoses.

Members of our Nightwatch team are required to be examples and mentors to the boys. Although many boys sleep through the night, occasionally there will be boys who have nightmares or trouble sleeping. As such, it is important that the successful applicant feel confident in their ability to relate to young people, and are able to maintain a safe and caring environment at all times.

Shifts start at 10 pm and end between 8-9 am. You are required to stay awake and alert the entire time.

You will receive training in:

  • Arbinger Philosophies and Practice as taught by leading experts.
  • Non-violent crisis intervention Behavioral and Mental Health Disorder Management.

Applicants must be at least 21 years-of-age or older and have achieved at least a High School Diploma/GED. Applicants must be able to pass a drug screen and fingerprint clearance check.

We are an equine therapy program, however, experience working with horses is not required for the position. You may be permitted access to be able to ride horses while not on shift if that is an area of interest for you.

30-40 hours a week, Pay starts at $12.50 an hour.
